The french Govt. had been running a Primary school called "Ecole centrale" Villianur for boys and a seperate elementary school for girls near Villianur Police station for the benefit of the residents wards in and around the Villianur commune of French India.Their missionary schools for Primary Education were founded seperately for boys and girls at Kanuvapet Villianur. Besides "VIYOMA MUNIVAR" a vallalar devotee started a primary school for boys and girls at a place called 'SAMIYAR THOPPU' at villianur
In course of time the above mentioned schools become only upper primary schools but they were not upgraded as High schools. Those who finished their schooling here had to go to Pondicherry for continuing their secondary education
After sincere attempts by concerned, Vivekananda Govt. High School, Villianur was founded on 16th June 1961 as a Co-education school. After a few years the school become an institution exhaustively for boys
Realizing the importance of Vocational Education, the Govt started here Pre-Vocational Training course known as P.V.T.C. In the PVTC stream vocational education was imparted upto VIII std level.Then the P.V.T.C students joined the junior Technician school at Lawspet, Pondicherry, which led them to become reputed technicians in many trade. As full time vocational education was introduced in Pondicherry P.V.T.C stream had come to a halt for good.
In the Academic year 1982-1983 Vivekananda Govt High School, Villianur was upgraded and it become a higher Secondary school. After many evolutions Vivekananda Govt.Boys H.S.S.Villianur in their Academic year completes its 50th year of its inception
Today, many of its former students are Judges, Doctors, Engineer, Lawyers, Cabinet ministers, Members of legislative Assembly, Panchayat chairmen village Panchayat Presidents, Members of Commune Panchayat(councilor) prominent figures in the field of literature Govt. employees, Orators big industrialists prominent philanthropists, Artists and heterogeneous personalities. In short Vivekananda school was the basis for many to become teachers, professors and doctors of philosophy.
The school administration longed to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the school along with the former students of the past fifty years with a view to give the former student's rare opportunity to reminisce
Tmt. C.P.Lailamathi-Principal, Tmt. S.Ezhil-Vice-Principal, Thiru R.Muthulingam-Headmaster and teachers took the initiatives to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the school in a grand manner.
Having come to know about their decision, Mr.C.Anandane the chief Engineer of P.W.D(Rtd), Pondicherry the founder of Aditya Vidyashramam and alumnus of the V.G.B.H.S.S. Villianur proposed that the formation of the Alumni Association would be of immense use to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the school in a grand manner
Accordingly he left no stone unturned for arranging the "Former Students meet" at the school. His relentless efforts bore fruit and the Alumni Association of V.G.B.H.S.S villianur was founded.
To make the Alumni Association a registered entity and enable it to perform its duties properly in the General Body Meeting the Rules and Regulations and its functions have been framed.
